What is a floating floor in a broad sense? Comparison between floating floor in a broad sense and USI

A floating floor (in a broad sense) is a suspended structure with an elastic sound insulation layer between the floor base layer and finish layer. Its core is to cut off the transmission of structure-borne sound (e.g., footsteps) and airborne sound. It also has basic thermal insulation functions. It is widely used in buildings with sound environment requirements such as residences and hotels. It has prominent advantages: it can effectively reduce noise by 15-20dB; it is compatible with various floor finishes, and has flexible construction that can take into account both new construction and old renovation. However, traditional floating floors have obvious defects: materials are mostly bulk combinations (e.g., ordinary rubber pads + general XPS boards), with poor compatibility and easy deformation. The sound insulation performance attenuates rapidly with long-term use. It also relies on manual construction, which is prone to "sound bridges", and the coordination between thermal insulation and sound insulation is weak. To solve these shortcomings, UBlok has developed the USI system — through integrated special inorganic materials, using standardized construction.
